*Take Your Legislator to School! It is important now more than ever that our legislators understand what cyber schooling is all about. To this end, we ask families to email or call their legislators prior to Feb. 28 to let them know you will be there. To find your legislators, go to http://www.vote-smart.org/ and enter your zip code. Then go to http://www.leg.state.co.us/Clics/CLICS2008A/csl.nsf/directory?openframeset to find the email and phone number for your state senator and representative. Let them know that your family will be visiting on Feb. 28 and ask them what time would be good for your family to meet with them. Families are encouraged to bring your laptop with your curriculum, projects and artwork to enhance these visits. Location Colorado State Capitol 200 East Colfax Denver, CO (for driving directions from your location, click here: http://www.mapquest.com/). Info about the State Capitol Building: http://www.milehighcity.com/capitol/ ***Please note that the State Capitol has two public entrances with metal detectors. All personal possessions are subject to search. Our base of operations will be on the second floor outside the Old Supreme Court in the State Capitol. Each school will have a check-in table set up outside this room beginning at 8:00 AM. Please RSVP to your school. If you RSVP by Feb. 22, you will receive a t-shirt and free breakfast and lunch!!!! Parking: There are several meters and pay lots very near the Capitol building, be prepared with cash and change. The closest parking is a pay lot directly behind the capitol on Grant St. which costs $12.00 and does take credit cards as well as cash. Meters near the capitol are for 1 hour or 2 hours only. Remember also that a few blocks make all the difference and the further you get from downtown, the cheaper it gets :).
