Coalition Update

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season. The Colorado legislative session is now underway. Read on for updates regarding upcoming advocacy activities including our 2009 Cyberschools' Day at the Capitol.  Keep your eyes on your inbox and on the Colorado Coalition of Cyberschool Families (CCCF) website for updates and exciting opportunities for members. 

 

Video Contest

The CCCF video contest is still underway and accepting your entries. The deadline has been extended to Friday, January 16th. To enter, please submit a five minute video telling us why you love your public online school. Winners will receive a $500 college savings plan from CCCF and CollegeInvest. Prizes will be awarded to students in three age categories: grades K -5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Day at the Capitol

Our 2009 Day at the Capitol will be held on Tuesday, February 24th from 8am to 2pm. All families, friends and advocates for public online schools are invited and encouraged to attend.

 

Activities the day of will include: speakers, capitol tours, lunch provided by CCCF, a chance to meet other online families and other exciting opportunities. Keep your eyes on the website for the posting of an agenda including speakers and more information on what to do while in the Denver area.

National Coalition for Public School Options statement on Arne Duncan

Online Learning Advisory Board

The next Online Learning Advisory Board Meeting (OLAB) has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 13th from 10am to 12pm.  Parents, children and advocates are invited and encouraged to attend OLAB meetings. This is a great opportunity to voice your opinions and provide feedback.

Last but not least, we encourage you to spread the word, get involved and stay engaged with CCCF!  Ways you can help:

  • Day at the Capitol is in Denver on Tuesday, February 24th.
  • Tell other parents about the Coalition and encourage them to join.
  • Volunteer to testify during the legislative session.
  • Attend OLAB meetings.
